Chill your glass: Place a martini glass in the freezer (or fill it with ice water) while you mix.Combine the base spirits: In a cocktail shaker, pour 1½ oz vodka and 1½ oz sour apple liqueur.

Add the fruit component: Measure and add 1 oz apple juice (or cider) to the shaker.Ice and shake: Fill the shaker two-thirds full with fresh ice cubes, then seal and shake vigorously for about 15–20 seconds—until the shaker exterior is frosty.

Strain into the glass: Discard any ice from your chilled martini glass, then double-strain the mixture to catch any shards of ice.

Garnish and serve: Thread a thin apple slice or peel onto a cocktail pick and rest it on the rim (or float it on top).
